Akshay,

I did all warm-up sets, both leg extension and leg press, before the actual workout. Once I was warmed up on everything, I loaded up both machines and went directly from the leg extension to the leg press with no rest in between.

I followed the diet every day. Remember, you grow on your rest days, so you need adequate calories and nutrients every single day.

what sort of warm up did u do before leg training, coz u did leg extension 1 set and squat/leg press 1 set, so if u did warmups for squats after leg extension, it wud defeat the theory of no rest ? which exercise did you do?

the diet that mike told you to follow, did you follow it everyday or only on training days?

thanks

As I mentioned in the post, Mike Mentzer advocated both--he started me on a split routine, then when my progress slowed down he switched me to his full-body consolidation routines. You seem to be leaning toward full body, so I think you should try that and make changes as necessary based on your results. I'm not swayed too much by the growth hormone argument, the human body is a very adaptable organism and will respond to anything that is sufficiently intense, brief and infrequent.

You know I've always been iffy on whether to use split routines. Mike Mentzer definitely advocates them and so does Dorian Yates but are they really more effective for average individuals not trying to be a serious bodybuilder?

In Ellington Darden's "the new high intensity training" book he is definitely a supporter of training all body parts at the same time because it triggers a greater release of growth hormone. I've read that same thing from a number of different sources. What's you take on that? Thanks

Hi Dave,

great memories that remind me so much of my own training with Mike the year before and the year after your own session, I just wish I had had the forsite to have pictures taken during that time. I still have the original hand written instructions from Mike..treasured and stored safely with my signed HD books. Thanks for bringing happy memories back..!!!
